Personalised Printed Name Place Cards

Posted by boogiebabys on February 24, 2013 at 2:55 PM

I love these luggage labels and I think they are so versatile, they can be used as gift tags, place cards, wine glass name tags.  The idea that they can be firstly used as a name place to put on your plate, then after you can tie the string or ribbon around your wine glass and therefore you wont get your wine drunk by another guest.

In my quest to get the most attractively written text and names on the tags, I have purchased clear stamps, block stamps and handwritten them, and may I tell you that none of them are particularly easy.
Firstly you really have to buy TWO sets of alphabet stamps as a lot of names have double letters in them, such as Callum, you can print Cal and then do lum secondary, but in my experience to match up those letters so they run smoothly and consecutively is quite a bit of a pain, in my experience anyway, so the best method and the most consistant is to print them out, you can print them on normal A4 photocopy paper or you can be a bit more luxurious and print them on card, then with a little foam sticky tab, stick them to your labels and these give a raised and pretty nice effect, PLUS, its saved you not necesarilly money, but it cetainly has saved you time and to me time is much more valuable than money, plus you dont turn the air blue as your printing off a sheet of names.
Just type in all your guests names in word document, change to your required style of font and print and cut with scissors or alternatively if you really havent even got that amount of time, you can purchase them from Boogiebabys in packs of 10.

DIY table seating plan

Posted by boogiebabys on January 19, 2013 at 2:50 PM

Table seating plan or unnasigned seating?

Unassigned seating sounds great in theory and it is certainly one less job for the organizer. Unfortunately it rarely works out so well in practice.

There may be a rush for the ‘good’ seats.

It will take a lot longer to get guests seated. They may still be milling about while the food is being served.

Your beautiful decor will be spoilt by people leaving their coats on chairs to reserve them.

The last few guests end up walking around looking for seats, a bit like the unpopular kid at school lunch.

Couples can get split up. It is not unknown for guests to end up eating outside the venue because they couldn’t get a seat together at the same table.

Elderly relatives may end up seated where they can’t hear or see anything.

If people turn up uninvited (common in some cultures) they may take seats intended for your invited guests.

So what you will need is a table seating plan for all to see and there is no confusion;

I have created an easy to read table seating board which will cost you hardly next to nothing and can be created larger or smaller dependant on how many guests and tables you have;

  • Firstly I purchased a plank of wood, I wanted a nice thick one, approx 18mm thick and I cut it down into the sizes that I required.
  • I then stuck all the pieces side by side using PVA glue.
  • Once the planks were dry, I painted it.
  • Then I painted 9 wooden clothes pegs and glued one handmade mulberry rose to each peg, covering the metal bar.
  • I measured out each peg and then added my manilla luggage labels and laid them onto my wooden board, to get an idea where to put each peg and if it had enough room etc, before I stuck the peg.
  • Then I stuck the pegs and hand wrote the table no. and guests onto the label.
  • And this is the end result.

DIY Party and Wedding Chocolate Bar Favours

Posted by boogiebabys on August 4, 2012 at 11:30 AM

Favours, favours, favours, what to get?

Well I suppose its kind of easy for childrens parties as we all know that sweets and a pen will probably do the trick, maybe throw in the odd bouncy ball and a yo-yo too, but when it comes to adults and different sexes it gets a bit tricky.  I have searched over a lot of wedding suppliers and there are a lot of wedding favours out there, but who really buys crystal cut glass coasters for men.  I appreciate that your more VIP guests will receive something of more value, but what will you get the masses.

A lot of companies sell chocolate bars as favours with a printed label with your wording on and I think its a great idea, surely everyone loves chocolate?  Its certainly better than sugared almonds, at least you wont worry about anyone breaking their teeth on your chocolate and then having a law suit on your hands, lol.

I happened to be in Asda the other day and thought I would try out their own brand chocolate for 30p a bar (as at 01.08.12), well what a shocker, it was DELISH, they have milk and dark chocolate too. I had to buy 3 bars of course, 2 plain and 1 milk, just to confirm that the taste was as good as I thought it was and also to use one as my template, which may I say was very hard to keep safe and untouched.

Well whilst watching the olympics I had a little crafty moment and no I dont mean eating the chocolate all sneeky like so I didnt have to offer any around, what I mean is a creative moment and I thought OI OI, I could create my own packaging for these bars and use them as favours for parties or just as a lovely gift, you can write your own message on it too, so how special is that.  Here are 2 examples that i was able to create before I scoffed the last bar, so now it seems that if I have anymore ideas for the packaging I will have to buy some more chocolate, OH DEAR WHAT A CHORE, lol nom nom nom, lol xxX

Blackboard Large Wooden Heart Table Numbers

Posted by boogiebabys on June 22, 2012 at 8:40 AM

I have done a bit of research on the internet looking for table place numbers and to be honest, they are so expensive, i know some of them are stunning but at the end of the day, you will be left with table place numbers that you dont need and that have cost you a fortune.  I absolutely love this design as they can be rubbed out if you make a mistake, well it is a chalk board after all, BUT not only that, these little babies can be used for other things too.  I think they would work great placed in a bouquet of flowers and you can add your own personal message, they look very pretty too and can be used as memo boards also.
In this photo I have used an old Tuna pasta bake sauce jar (thoroughly washed I might add, no one likes the smell of fish do they, lol especially on your food table, lol.
I painted the centre of the jar and filled it with marigolds and added a lovely little peg, this works as a holder for the stick too and will ensure that will keep the table place number in position too, or fill them with flowers, plus although there is approx 2 cm of stick showing, I have painted over this and so you can use the reverse side, I mean whats the point of having it only on one side, means the waitress/waiter has to walk around the table to see it.

After extensive research I have priced these at the cheapest price that I could possibly £1.50 each, plus discounts for large orders.

These are £1.50 in

Ideas for Tin Cans.

Posted by boogiebabys on June 9, 2012 at 9:45 PM

I cant help it, i have been going crazy over tin cans, I can get enough of them, as soon as they are washed and dried, they are painted.  They are so handy for storing your craft items such as brushes, and if you use a peg you can make a little note of whats inside, they dont show the clutter and are also good for a little craft corner in the kids bedrooms, paint them up and store, pens and felt tips.  I also think they look fantastic in the garden too, I have a trellis on my garage wool, its easy to punch a hole in the bottom for drainage and punch a hole in the side, thread some wire or string through it, put a pretty flowered plant in it and hang it up ot tie it to the trellis looks so pretty and soooo cheap too, if you buy a tray of flowers, you can get about 15 plants all hanging up, but that also means 15 tins of beans, lol.  Dont forget to water them, otherwise they dont look so chic and pretty, all wilted on the trellis lol xx, lots of tins all painted different colours with a beautiful flowering pansies in look stunning, I shall get a photo up of my lot when they flower, had a bit of trouble remembering to water them....oops. x
